St. Francis and The Four Evangelists

Instruction on gilding on paper with real 23k gold leaf and painting techniques will be provided. Some watercolour experience is helpful.
A small supply fee per participant includes gold leaf, gilding glue, a 10/0 brush, 2 pieces of watercolour paper (6x6") and misc. materials and exemplars & handouts.
A varied selection of different images will be provided as models for your individual projects.
You will be advised of what to bring with you upon registration.
There will be a limit of 14 students in each class.
Both Workshops: $375.00, or $350.00 for members.
St. Francis only: $150.00, or 140.00 for members, plus a $10.00 materials fee.
The Four Evangelists only: $275.00, or $250.00 for members, plus a $15.00 materials fee.

April 5th, 2024, 9 am to 5 pm
On Day 1, we will be working with medieval manuscript paintings and patterns depicting the patron saint of animals, ecology, Italy and tapestry makers. you will create a small watercolour on paper with 23k gold leaf embellishments that will reflect some of the episodes from the life of this medieval saint.
April 6th and 7th, 2024,
9 am to 5 pm each day
On days 2 and 3, we will be working with the symbols of the four evangelists: the winged man (Matthew), the winged lion (Mark), the winged ox (Luke) and the eagle (John), which first appeared in the vision of Ezekiel (1:5-10) in the Old Testament, was adopted pictorially in early medieval manuscripts and church art, and is still used today in liturgical imagery.
