The Magic of Flourishing with Susan Keyes

Need to add some magic to your artwork, letters, words and wordscapes? Add flourishes. They are magical, appearing to be made spontaneously, but actually they are carefully and deliberately made. This class will explore the technique and mechanics behind the magic. Drills to train your hand to move in many directions and how to flourish from the basic shape of a line or letter. The basic rules of when and where to add flourishes, how to make them the right size, not too big, not too small. How to critique your work and how to develop your own flourishes for wherever you need them. Knowledge of cursive writing is required. Experience with a broad-edged pen is helpful as they will be used in class work.
