A Labour of Love

On February 14th of this year, SAGA members Joanne Ronan, Cheryl Snyder, and Chiara Morello joined with local Calgary porcelain artist Glenda Lenz in her studio to restore a set of plaster cast low relief Stations of the Cross for the newly renovated building housing Sacred Heart Church in Strathmore.

Glenda provided all of the supplies, including plaster, acrylic paint, sandpaper, gold paint, lining tape, and acrylic paint brushes. Her studio was also equipped with commercial grade air purifiers, for the safety of the artists.

They met at her studio for work on the Stations on Wednesdays and Saturdays until work was finally completed and the Stations installed in the new Church, in time for the dedication on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, on June 14th.
